The 21 May 14 saw the culmination of the ten-month Playwrights and Directors Mentoring Program at The Pavilion Theatre (Dun Laghoaire, Ireland), run by The Pavilion and Fishamble: The New Play Company. The evening of new work showcased short new writing by 17 playwrights (mentored by Gavin Kostick–Literary Manager, Fishamble), directed by 14 directors (mentored by Jim Culleton – Artistic Director, Fishamble).

I was paired with Amy Fox, who worked with a talented cast to bring my play, That One, Th’On to life in the short 5 minutes each playwright/director team was allocated. (‘th’on’ is a North Antrim colloquialism for ‘that one’, similar to the Southern Irish ‘your man’)

Audience feedback for That One, Th’On:

“Brilliant, it really stood out. Terrific direction too.  It was stylish and funny and clever.”

“It was very sharp and witty…brilliant!”

“One of my favorites of the night.”

“Well done on last night, the play was great, the message was greater. Clever way of putting it across too. And fyi, I always turn my radio down for the local blackbird.”
